A I have paid. Why can't I log in? Why does the website ask me to go to PayPal again?
| |
If you log in to the Stella site, after you have paid, and you see a message that you must go to PayPal
and pay, then please send an email at once to: info@pendragon-elt.co.uk
We will complete the transaction in our system for you.
After you have paid for a course on the PayPal site, PayPal will send you back to the Stella home page.
However, if you quit the browser, or lose the internet before this happens, Paypal will not complete the
transaction with our system. Our system will then think you have not paid and send you back to Paypal
when you log in. We monitor Paypal and our own system, so we can also see when this happens.
Please do not worry. We will add any days you might lose to your subscription.

Can I trust Paypal? I have heard that Paypal does not guarantee any refunds.
| |
You can contact us any time. You can phone us, write to us, visit the office. If you have any problems, we
will try to solve them. If you are worried about a payment, we will deal with it. We monitor all transactions
and if anything goes wrong, we will probably see it before you see it. So you can use Paypal with
confidence. We have no interest in offering a poor service.

I can't log in. (But I could log in before.)

If you have upgraded to Microsoft Vista and you are using Internet Explorer 7, you might encounter a
problem logging in. Please empty or remove cookies from your browser. Then try to log in again using
your registered email and chosen password.

I can't see the whole window once I get into the course. The bottom of the screen is cut off.
| |
You probably have a monitor with a resolution of 800 x 600. We have experienced this situation on older
mac ibooks. The programmers have designed the interface for more modern laptops and monitors with
higher resolutions.
| |
I get a pop up window with an empty screen.
| |
If you click on the 'enter' button on the Stella home page and a pop-up window appears, but it is
empty, then consider the following:
You may not have the latest version of the Flash player. There is a link on the Stella home page where
you can download the version that is necessary for this site.
You may think you have the latest version of the Flash player, but it is not active or installed on the
browser you are using. Do you have the latest flash player on the browser you are using?
The latest version of Internet Explorer (7) requires you to activate the Flash player. Have you done this?

I would like to be able to pause the audio presentation (module 5) or to go back to a point.
| |
You can pause the audio streaming at any point and then continue again. (It is the square button in the
middle.) What you can't do is rewind only a few seconds and repeat. You have to go back to the
beginning of the audio. This is why we divided the audio presentation into steps, so there is no need to
listen to the whole presentation.
We are planning a "rewind" function in the next release.

In the Hungarian course unit 1 the program marks the word 'fiu' as wrong even if I spell it correctly.
| |
The Hungarian word 'fiu' means both son and boy, so we programmed 'fiu(1)' as boy and 'fiu(2)' as son. If you match 'fiu(2)' with 'boy' you will get an error message. The computer isn't human, so it doesn't know that 'fiu' can be used for both. The same applies to 'lany' (daughter, girl). When you write the word you have to write the number behind it.
Unfortunately, we also have to live with 'mand (1)' and 'mand (2)' in Danish as Danish has only one word for 'man' and 'husband'.
This problem only occurs in the first unit of the Hungarian and the Danish course and it has happened because we developed the model in English, and 'boy' 'son' 'man' and 'husband' are all different words in English. We will replace these words later in Danish and Hungarian to avoid this problem.

Is it possible to buy the complete course on a CD?
| |
At the moment, the courses are purely online.
| |
Suddenly the audio files don't work, text flashes on and off, some steps don't work.
| |
Please empty cache / temporary files from your browser and start again. This usually resolves such
glitches in the program.
| |
When are the downloads for each unit ready?
| |
You may see this message in module 8: "Additional exercises and downloads. This service is not available
at this moment. please try later."
Unfortunately these downloads are not available yet.
| |
Why did the course suddenly crash?
| |
Have you seen this message?
"A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 8 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your
computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script."
This occurs when the unit, module or step you are trying to view has not loaded yet. To avoid this,
please wait a few seconds before clicking on any new links. This is particularly important when using
the table of contents.

| |
Why does it sometimes say 'undefined' in the interface?
| |
When the STELLA course is loading (for example in step 1), the screen is blank and the text says 'undefined'. Don't worry ... just wait a few seconds and then the course will be ready for you.

Why doesn't Stella run on Mozilla Firefox?
| |
If STELLA doesn't work with firefox, you probably need to install the Flash Player from www.adobe.com. It is best to download the Flash Player using the firefox browser as it may not install properly otherwise. You also need to enable pop-up windows in firefox. We use firefox here and STELLA works fine with that browser.
